Job Description: Pecan Valley is expanding access to mental health services for individuals with severe mental illness. This expansion will result in a focus on initial psychiatric evaluations by a medical provider. The goal is for all initial evaluation to be completed by providers who will not continue client’s care but referred to other Pecan Valley providers for ongoing follow-up services. This nursing position will provide supports and nursing activities for individuals receiving initial psychiatric evaluations. These evaluations will be done primarily through tele-medicine activities. This position will also work with the clinic nurse when initial evaluations are not scheduled and support routine nursing activities in the clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: focused physical assessments (vital signs, EKG's, labs), timely computer documentation / prescription drug ordering, injectable medication administration, as well as frequent phone, email, face to face and/or telemedicine interaction with physicians, ANPs, patients, caregivers, case managers, clinic manager, front office staff, insurance companies and pharmacies. In addition to a primary clinic assignment, also provides occasional coverage for other Pecan Valley clinics as needed.
Qualifications: Licensed to practice as a Vocational nurse (LVN) in the state of Texas. Some mental health experience preferred. The selected candidate must have a stable employment history, be professional/diplomatic, energetic, organized and possess excellent attention to detail/multi- tasking abilities & above average computer skills. Other required skills; communication, team–work, determined patient advocacy and superior customer service.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Must be able to pass an agency required physical. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead.
